Here is my home with the front door wide open. Out in front is the "spider tree" and a couple of typical Dutch bicycles. Yes, that is a certified American mail box. Eh? It is one of my souvenirs of frequent trips to the USA.
The rooms of B&B Paula are at the top, up two flights of steep Dutch stairs. The smaller double windows face out from the apartment's sitting room. Other windows face out from the bedroom on the other side of the house, overlooking the garden and nearby roof tops. See the photos for a look inside.
I am located about 3 km (2 miles) west of the city center, a short bike ride. Haarlem's pleasant western suburbs Bloemendaal, Overveen, and Aerdenhout are nearby. And it is 6 km to Zandvoort an Zee, a hot North Sea resort village with casino, international race circuit, golf course, plenty of night life, and miles of sandy beach. There are several bike path choices to Zandvoort, including a wide straight flat mini-road or a hilly winding path through the wild dunes.
